Experience and usability improvements. We will watch this for anything that changes how players read routes or interact with navigation tools.
Updates
Subnautica 2 is in Early Access, and patches can change the world players route through. This page tracks each build with one practical focus: what changed for the map, resources, and navigation.
Last reviewed against EA Hotfix 2 / 23357846.
Latest build
Current tracked build: Hotfix 2 / 23357846. Next expected build: Hotfix 3, expected in early June 2026 and not yet released.
This is not a general patch-notes archive. The table below only keeps the parts that matter when a player is checking routes, resources, or map-sensitive navigation.
| Build | Date | Map / resource impact | What changed (navigation-relevant) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hotfix 3 | Expected early June 2026 | Expected, not yet released | Expected in early June 2026. This build is not released yet, so map, resource, and route impact are still unconfirmed. |
| Hotfix 2 / 23357846 | May 22, 2026 | Map and resource changes confirmed | Early areas gained more Silver resource points, later areas gained more Troilite resource points, and Hammerhead behavior is less likely to follow Tadpole lights back toward base routes. Recheck the resource pages before planning a longer ore run. This hotfix also fixed Tadpole teleporting, infinite oxygen after hunger or thirst death, multiplayer disconnect crashes, and random late-area crashes. |
| Hotfix 1 / 23281399 | May 19, 2026 | No map or resource changes | This patch did not change map or resource locations. It covered AMD GPU / DirectX 12 startup-crash guidance, a rare Ping crash fix, and analytics changes so telemetry only starts after accepting the terms of service with less data sent back. |
| EA Launch | May 14, 2026 | Initial Early Access world released | Subnautica 2 entered Early Access with the initial map, biome set, and resource layout available for build-pinned route checking. |

EA 1.2
Co-op improvements and additions. Multiplayer route planning can change when shared movement, disconnect behavior, or base-return patterns change.
Later major updates
Expanded areas, biomes, creatures, resources, tools, vehicles, and story content. These are the updates most likely to force coordinate rechecks.
When the map or resources change, we recheck coordinates by build instead of treating older route notes as permanently correct.
Subnautica 2 coordinates are build-pinned on this site. Each coordinate row is labeled with the build it was last checked against and a confidence level, so an Early Access patch does not silently turn into outdated route advice. If a patch changes resources, the affected rows get rechecked before we treat them as current again.
Use the coordinates calculator to compare two XYZ points, or open the Navigator when you want nearby resource candidates from your current position.
Check build-pinned ore and material route candidates.
